For 1 week I’ll be testing the Nikon D700 (I tested the newer D800 last week). It’s pretty huge with a battery pack attached:
At the end of the week I’ll hopefully know whether I need/want a full frame camera. Rumors on the street are that Nikon is announcing the D600 on August 24th, so I’ll probably hold out until then.
My thinking for now is that the D7000 is sufficient for the kind of photography I like to do (at the moment interior, food and portrait, some strobist type stuff). I wonder what I’ll think in a week.
To my delight I also got to borrow a macro lens:
Nikon calls their macro lenses “micro” (that’s odd). A macro lens allows you to focus at closer distances, in the case of this 60mm lens as close as 18.5cm.
Another interesting tidbit is that you can set the aperture to F36. Most lenses max at F22.
Oh by the way, above images were shot at 2000 ISO. I don’t see all that much noise. Sweet!
